Foundation: Pur Minerals

"Pur Minerals was named a winner of the 2008 Allure Best of Beauty Awards recognizing the most effective beauty tools and treatments in the industry." -- Allure Magazine

($40 at Ulta for the kit or you can buy the single foundation for $26)

What’s perfect about Pur Minerals is that it’s purely portable. The kit contains the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup which acts as your foundation, concealer, powder and sun protection all in one. The kit also includes travel sized editions of the Mineral Glow for a sun kissed effect and the Universal Marble Powder in Pink, which can be applied to lips, cheeks and eyes for a rosy hue. A Chisel Makeup Brush is also part of the package.
Although I still love Bare Essentials, Pur is actually better if you're looking for a fuller coverage. I tend to use Bare Essentials during the hot seasons like Summer since it's lighter and I switch to Pur during the Winter.

Love Always,

Ash

Trending: Half Moon Nails

The "half moon" look was inspired by Manicurist Nonie Creme during Fashion Week. It is now a huge trend in the fashion industry.
It's basically a reverse french manicure which is traditionally a very vintage look. The half moon is now being made larger and straighter in order to achieve a more contemporary look. It started on the runway during fashion week and has now been spotted on many celebrities.

Mascara: Grow Luscious

Grow Luscious--Revlon

For $6, this particular Mascara does its job. It's suppose to help build length and volume and it definitely does the trick for me. I've spent over $20 on products such as Diorshow and various Mascaras from Sephora and they're not worth the price. GIRLS--if you're in need of some new Mascara, try this one.

Love Always,

Ash

Trending: Maxi Dress

I love Maxi Dresses.
Definitely a Spring/Summer 2011 fashion essential.
The maxi dress is a great addition to your spring or summer wardrobe, and is perfect for almost any body type. Still, there are a few things to consider when choosing the right fit; maxi dresses are available in both long and shorter lengths, and some are designed with more volume and fabric than others. Here's how to choose just the right maxi dress for your style and body type.
Instructions:
1.
Choose a maxi dress that's fitted around the waist if you have a larger frame. The typical maxi dress is billowy and sits like a tunic; pick a cut that is fitted and tighter around the waist for a pulled together look.
2.
Wear both long and short maxi dresses with heels. Don't settle for kitten heels or ballet flats, as these can make you look frumpy. Add as much height to the legs as you can.
3.
Choose an A-line cut to hide a larger stomach. This style is perfect for larger women and keeps the feminine look of the dress while flattering the figure.
4.
Wear chunky jewelry and carry an oversized bag to maximize the look. Miniature jewelry or bags don't match well with the free-from style of the maxi, so complement the look with oversized accessories whenever possible.
5.
Wear miniature prints and patterns if you have a small frame. This is the best match for a flowy maxi dress on petite and smaller frames.
6.
Look for a bandeau style to balance out a larger figure. These are better than regular dress straps as they elongate the neckline and draw attention upward.
7.
Wear a single-color dress to create a sleek and smooth look. Skip the patterns and bold prints of the maxi dress altogether with a bold color for spring. Top color choices include aqua, blue, purple, yellow and even bright red.
Some people have a difficult time wearing a Maxi Dress because they complain that being short, they feel that Maxi Dresses are overwhelming and don't compliment their body type. I disagree with that. Standing at 5'2" I'm completely comfortable wearing Maxi Dresses. I normally wear them with ballet flats or flip flops but sometimes wear them with wedges.
If you're looking for an affordable Maxi Dress look at Forever 21 and H&m.

Trending: The Black Out

Black is back but did it ever go away? When people wear all black, it exudes sexiness on a different level. It’s classy and classic. You just can’t go wrong with it.

(All black is very chic and classy. If you want to create this look for yourself all it takes is your favorite black dress or skirt.)

(Of course Trey Songz looks spiffy in ANYTHING he wears but this particular suit is too hot. Black suits on guys are my favorite. Trey or should I say--his wardrobe stylist, did a great job in pairing this black themed suite with this polka-dot bow tie which added some flair to his outfit.)

(Jeans with black go great together. Jay-Z always knows how to put together a trendy outfit with a little twist to it.)

(Melodie, Kim & Lala are all wearing different aspects of fashions that are in this season. They're each wearing a black blazer which is an easy way to give an outfit a more edgier/classy look. Melodie is rocking the tie-die jeans that are in style but I must say, they are hard to pull off. Kim is wearing a little black dress that will forever stay in style paired up with over-the-knee-high boots. And Lala paired up a little black dress with a matching blazer. Blazers might just have to be the topic of my next blog!)

The truth is, wearing all black will never be a fad—but there are seasons when you might see more people wearing it then others. I say rock your fab, and if it happens to be in black, that’s even better!

Love always,

Ash

Trending: Over The Knee Boots

Now that the new season is in full swing, it's time to have some fun with fashion. And one of the edgiest new styles in footwear right now is the over-the-knee boot. This is a trend we just can't get away from for winter 2010. They could possibly be the season's must-have item. But when new styles like this pop up, it can give us girls some stress when it comes to figuring out exactly how to wear them. Here is a 'how to' guide on how to wear these boots.

Jennifer Lopez in over-the-knee boots

(Jennifer Lopez rocks one of the best over-the-knee boot looks with these sexy thigh high suede boots. The high heel goes great with her short black dress. J Lo adds a pop of contrast to the monochromatic look with a cool fringed brown leather bag.)

(One of the easiest ways to wear over-the-knee boots are to pair them with skinny jeans or leggings like Kim Kardashian does here. The goal is to have a long, sleek line between the boots and leggings or skinny jeans.)

(Unless you want to conjure up visions of Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman," keep cleavage/skin to a minimum when you wear over-the-knee boots. Lady Gaga is an exception!)

Katerina Graham in over-the-knee boots.

(A flash of skin works great with the over-the-knee boots, giving it a sophisticated, but still edgy look. But again, keep the skin to a minimum!)

 Ciara in over-the-knee boots.

(Sure, over-the-knee boots go with lots of looks. But pairing girly ruffles with thigh-high leather boots is just a bit too much. Stick with straight, simple shifts for dresses or sleek skinny jean/leggings looks for the best way to wear over-the-knee boots.)

Katie Price in over-the-knee boots.

(Stretch tall boots can sometimes squeeze you in all the wrong places and give you sausage legs. So unless you have great legs, like Katie Price does here, skip the stretch over-the-knee boots.)

Now--go get your self a pair of over-the-knee boots.
They're a must-have!

Love always,

Ash
